I did not know how to feel about my first day of eighth grade, but now that the day is over, I am certain that it is a day I will never forget. I remember when I first walked in to Bell-East at the beginning of sixth grade and everything seemed so big, different, and scary. I could hardly imagine that two years from that day, I would be starting the 2014 school year, beginning the journey of my last year of middle school. Now the day has finally arrived, we are at last the ones on top. All the nerves and fears from the past years of middle school are suddenly out of sight. Today, I realized how accustomed I have become to the school and how determined I am to make my eighth grade year count. After today, I am well aware that being the oldest in the school means we are role models for the sixth and seventh graders. It is our duty to demonstrate what it really means to be kind, courteous, and respectful. As I became acclimated with my teachers, I recognized how much they can help me achieve this school year. I know that the amount of effort I put forth this year will reflect on my future and will bring me closer to success. However, because I am another grade older, it means I will come face to face with more challenges and difficulties. As the days go on, I discover that sometimes things will get tough, but if I continue to persevere and give my all, the possibilities that lie ahead in my eighth grade year are endless.
