Mrs. Lisa O’Neal is a guidance counselor at Bell-East Middle
School. She works really hard through half of the summer to prepare many students’ schedules for the upcoming year. Even though she did not really see herself as a guidance counselor at first, she soon became interested. Mrs. O’Neal actually started working in business before she became a guidance counselor. After working in business, she decided to work as a counselor at Martinsville High School. The reason she became interested in being a guidance counselor is because she really enjoys working with students. Mrs. O’Neal has been working at Bell-East Middle School for eight years. Her favorite thing about Bell-east is getting to work with students and the wonderful staff. She is very excited for this year’s Career Exploration where the eighth graders get to look into different careers for their future. As guidance counselor, she has
given lots of advice for many different students. She said if any students are
failing a class, she would tell them to always do their homework and to ask
their teacher for help. Mrs. O’Neal says that peer pressure and getting their
homework done are the most challenging things for
students.
