Travis Griffey is a seventh grader at Bell-East Middle School. Travis has been playing football since he was eight years old. Football has not been just a hobby for Travis, but it is his passion, too. Travis has been an exceptional quarterback for Bell-East Middle School this past season. Travis has been playing in Martinsville for three years now and has had a record of 29 wins and 3 losses. He has thrown 37 touchdowns and over 1,000 yards in passing yards over the course of three years. Travis has won a Mid-State Championship and two MJFL Championships. Travis owes his achievements to the harsh league he played in while living in Illinois: Rockford Junior League. Travis was also taught in Illinois to work hard and now throws the football an hour a day and is constantly conditions.
Travis is inspired to play football by Peyton Manning. “He is always so calm under pressure and still stays confident. This is how I want to react to tough decisions in life and on the field,” says Travis. Travis will continue playing football through high school and plans on going to college at Auburn University to play football. He also wants to be in the medical field and eventually become a doctor.
